An electromagnetic pulse (EMP) is a large burst of electromagnetic energy that can occur naturally or be caused by nuclear weapons. While many scientists believe EMPs are unlikely to create significant disruption in electricity-dependent society, some contend that these weapons may be deployed to accomplish so.
Large waves of electromagnetic energy are released by an EMP, which can function like a large moving magnet. A changing magnetic field can shift electrons in a neighboring wire, causing a current to flow. An EMP can produce destructive power spikes in any equipment within range due to such a large blast of energy.
Aside from joking about where the tin hats came from…Andy and Nick break down the 3 phases: E1-E3. Listen to learn about them and how they would affect different devices and systems.
